Erling Haaland Fires Manchester City to Victory Over Everton as Premier League Form Stays Sky-High

💙🚀 Manchester City continue to soar in the Premier League and once again it was their lethal striker, Erling Haaland, who took centre stage – reaching 23 goals this season (for club and country) with a clinical double in a 2-0 win.

Match Snapshot

At the Etihad Stadium on 18 October 2025, City claimed a 2-0 victory over Everton. Haaland broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with a header from a cross by Nico O’Reilly, and then doubled the lead just five minutes later with a left-footed strike from a cut-back by Savinho.

He now stands on 23 goals for the campaign across all competitions for both club and country — an extraordinary return. City also advanced to 16 points from eight matches, putting them temporarily atop the Premier League table.

What This Means

Haaland has now scored in 11 consecutive matches for club and country this season.

His timing is impeccable: both goals came within five minutes early in the second half, showing his ability to break games open when needed.

City’s dominance was clear: 19 shots to Everton’s 5, seven on target for City versus one for Everton.

Still, despite the win, City showed vulnerability at times  missing some of their usual fluency, perhaps due to absences in the midfield.

City’s Dominance and Key Stats

Final Score: Manchester City 2–0 Everton

Shots: City 19 – 5 Everton

Shots on Target: City 7 – 1 Everton

Possession: City 68% – 32% Everton

Haaland’s Goals: 58′, 63′

City’s win lifted them to the top of the Premier League table, with 16 points from eight matches. Pep Guardiola’s men remain unbeaten in eight consecutive games across all competitions.

🧠 Coach & Team Notes

Despite a few midfield absences, City maintained composure throughout the game. Pep Guardiola praised his players for their discipline and adaptability, particularly Haaland’s leadership up front and Phil Foden’s creativity in attack.

> “Erling was outstanding again,” Guardiola said. “He lives for goals and for helping the team win. We are happy with the energy he brings to every match.”

My Man-of-the-Match

Without a doubt, Haaland is my choice: his two goals were decisive, and his overall consistency this season is exceptional.

However, a shout-out must go to Phil Foden, who helped set the tone and provided the creative spark that allowed City’s attack to function — especially important on days when the midfield was less dominant.
