Barcelona Granted Phase 1A Occupancy of Spotify Camp Nou But Reopening Waits

🏟 Barça Receives Phase 1A License for Spotify Camp Nou But Fans Must Wait

🚹 In a recent statement, FC Barcelona announced that they have secured the first occupancy license for Phase 1A of the renovated Spotify Camp Nou, allowing parts of the stadium to host fans, with a capacity of approximately 26,000 seats.

However, the club confirmed they will delay returning until Phase 1B is also approved — this would expand capacity to around 45,000 seats and ensure a safer, more functional reopening.

🔍 What It Means

Phase 1A covers the main stand and one goal end of the stadium, enabling limited use under strict safety conditions. Yet, authorities have determined that reopening under just Phase 1A would not be ideal for matchday operations. Instead, Barcelona will wait for Phase 1B, which includes the lateral stands.

According to the club’s official statement, they prefer to re-enter the stadium with a capacity that offers better logistics, crowd control, and revenue potential. The licensing process remains under the oversight of Barcelona’s city council and relevant administrative bodies.

Background & Timeline

The club had long planned the first reopening under Phase 1A, but ultimately decided not to rush it.

Phase 1B is targeted for completion in the coming weeks, with the goal of reaching near-full operational status at 45,000 capacity.

In the meanwhile, Barça will continue playing their home matches at the Estadi OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys (MontjuĂŻc) until all permits and safety audits are finalized.
